Ukraine through the blogging glass

As an example of how the Internet and Blogs are changing the face of politics, the opposition in Ukraine is using all the means of the Internet to protest the results of the recent Ukrainian elections. This page of Ukrainian blogger headlines captures a summation of recent events. These Guardian Unlimited blog provides more details:

"As Ukrainians prepare for this afternoon's announcement of the official result of the country's contested presidential election, (as reported here by Guardian Unlimited), the web is yet again proving its worth yet again as a source of first-hand accounts of events on the ground.

The rest of the world is watching events in Ukraine, and I mean that literally - there's a webcam of the protests, from the Ukrainian TV channel 1 1, here"..[read more]

From Guardian Unlimited Blog covering Ukraine: "As events continue to unfold in Ukraine, the list of blogs and sites I gave in my last post could do with a few additions. Perhaps the most useful link I can offer to anyone tracking events in Kiev and beyond is the Kinja digest of Ukraine-themed blogs set up by A Fistful of Euros: a look at this page will give you the latest headlines from all these blogs. Notes from Kiev's latest post notes:

"Residents with apartments
overlooking the Presidential Administration grounds last night
witnessed the burning of documents. It lasted from 9:00pm to 3:00am. It

Administration are there to destory documents that Russia/Kuchma might
wish to keep away from public view. Apparently this was done in Iraq
and Georgia before their fall"...[read more]

Two bloggers we spotted today, one very useful blog and one very fun blog!

Quick Blog Takes:
Two bloggers we spotted today, one very useful blog and one very fun blog -

  • Garmin Blog is a corporate blog like you have never seen. Chet's Corner portion of the Garmin Blog gives  real-life tips on using the Garmin brand GPS units. There is Garmin product news but the whole style of the Garmin Blog is in "blogese" (Here is a blog glossary) -- meaning very conversational and non-press release talk or non-corporate jargon. "Blogese" is in a more informal tone -- like you are talking and explaining how to use a new computer to your grandmother. The Garmin Blog is a great place to start if you are thinking about getting a GPS unit and you are wondering just what you would use a GPS unit for.

  • The other blog we discovered for a "Fun Blog" is Tinselman. If you are into adventure gaming or ever bought the adventure game "Myst" to show off the graphics power of your computer, you will remember the awesome, realistic graphics of Robyn Miller, the co-creator of Myst. His online blog showcases his meanderings through his creative mind. Showcasing his art and drawings, his comments in his blog on culture show what an artist can add to the world-wide conversation that is the Internet. Tinselman includes:
